The Health Sector Workforce & Beneficiary Services Division (HSWBSD) is responsible for operational delivery of beneficiary and diagnostic services and workforce strategies that contribute to effectively meeting patient and population health needs and improving patient outcomes through the efficient delivery of health services.  The Division has the following primary areas of responsibility for the health system: Agreements and Negotiations, Compensation Policy and Programs, Physician Services, Professional Regulation and Oversight, Nursing Policy, Allied Health Policy, Beneficiary and Diagnostic Services, Health Workforce Planning and Implementation, Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing.

The Senior Manager of Allied Health provides provincial expertise and leads a portfolio aligned with the education, practice, clinical integration, recruitment and retention of allied health professionals. This work is achieved through delivery of innovative service models that maximize opportunities and optimal scopes of practice to ensure a capable health workforce is in place to meet the current and future health care needs of the province. The position provides advice, interpretation and/or consultation services across government and with senior level stakeholders while leading a team who provide expertise in the field of allied health for a defined portfolio of allied health occupations and policies. This position will lead the research, analysis, development and implementation of strategic policies and programs, as well as provide operational oversight, project management coordination and direction to the health authorities/Providence Health Care to support allied health human resources. The successful candidate is someone who will bring strong leadership, a solid foundation in health education and health authority clinical experience, stakeholder engagement and people management.  

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in health administration, health education, health science or a related field and a minimum five (5) years of *recent related health care/professional practice or clinical work experience as an allied health professional.
     

*Recent related health care, professional practice or clinical work experience must include:

  • Experience engaging a wide variety of senior level stakeholders and leading stakeholder consultations.
  • Experience in supervision/coaching of multi-disciplinary operational staff and leading diverse teams.
  • Experience leading, developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs and projects related to health workforce development. This may include workforce planning, education/training, recruitment/retention, role optimization and clinical integration.
  • Experience working collaboratively with executives to lead organizational change.
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal record check and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the Ministry.
     

Preference may be given to applicants:

  • With a master’s degree in health administration, health education, health science or a related field
  • Who are allied health professionals currently registered or eligible for registration with a regulatory college or licensing body in BC.
  • Who have post secondary health education/student practice education experience.
